Referrals to Francis House are accepted from physicians, clergy, hospitals, home care agencies, family members and prospective residents. Candidates for Francis House are people with a diagnosis of a terminal illness with a prognosis of six months or less life expectancy and have an illness progressing at a steady rate.
Residents are admitted to Francis House regardless of race, gender, age, religion, national origin, sexual orientation or financial resources.

Residents are admitted into Francis House based on need--those in most need will be offered bedrooms first, regardless of the time at which the referral was placed. When a bedroom becomes available, each prospective resident is reviewed for appropriateness and need at that time.
