There’s No Place Like Home: A Huge Success. Over 2,300 Francis House family and friends gathered for There’s No Place Like Home on October 10, 2012. The Horticulture Building at the New York State Fairgrounds was once again transformed into an elegant venue with stars hanging – each representing a resident who had spent their final days at Francis House. Chairs Kirk and Kim Narburgh along with Vice Chairs Mike and Heather Hennigan, led an energized committee of volunteers. The result? $306,000 in net profits for Francis House.
“Many people do not realize that this is a year-long effort,” says Sister Kathleen Osbelt, Francis House Founder. “We have such dedicated volunteers gathering support from local businesses, corporations and individuals. This is truly a community effort.“
The proceeds from the event fund nearly one-third of the annual budget for Francis House. Without any third party or insurance reimbursement or government funding, Francis House relies solely on donations to meet the annual $1.3 million budget.
Guests enjoyed international food stations by Carnegie Catering while listening to the music of Paul Fye. The true excitement of the evening is the popular key game. Guests purchase keys to try to unlock the doors of
eleven different prize houses. Over 500 prizes were won at the houses along with a silent auction, live auction and raffle.
It was a fun evening that brought together Francis House staff, volunteers, family members and community leaders.
